In 2005, these intrepid partners forged their destiny as stewards of an Angus beef farm on the picturesque Flinders Island. Mick, with a profound connection to Magnetic Island spanning over three decades, found his heart anchored to this serene oasis through family ties. Meanwhile, James, a true adventurer, charted a remarkable five-year voyage, sailing his boat up the East coast of Australia from Melbourne. It was during the Magnetic Island Race Week in 2012 that he fell head over heels for the island's enchanting allure, ultimately deciding to make it his boat's permanent home.
Bound by their enduring friendship, the dynamic duo, James and Mick, found themselves on a joint holiday on Magnetic Island. It was here, amidst the island's beauty and charm, that inspiration struck. Recognizing a golden opportunity within the Arcade in Picnic Bay, they embarked on an ambitious endeavor. With unwavering determination, they meticulously reimagined the arcade, crafting it anew from the ground up (as seen in the captivating photo above). Thus, the Seasalt Arcade was born, featuring a cutting-edge nanobrewery at its heart.
Their vision was nothing short of spectacular: to curate an exquisite venue that seamlessly blended diverse culinary creations, libations, entertainment, beauty, and art—all set against the backdrop of the sun-kissed beach. The result? An oasis of taste and culture that has swiftly become a cherished haven for both locals and visitors of every generation. His journey began amidst the vibrant craft beer scene of Seattle back in 2010, where he served as an engaging tour guide at the renowned Redhook Brewery. Surrounded by the aroma of hops and the alchemy of fermentation, Jordan's fascination with brewing was ignited by his friends at Foggy Noggin Brewing, propelling him into the world of home brewing. The moment he set foot on Magnetic Island, he knew he was destined to take his brewing skills to the professional level.
With unwavering dedication to his craft, Jordan embarked on a relentless quest for brewing perfection. From experimenting with a kaleidoscope of styles to racking up accolades in the realm of home brewing, he honed his skills and earned his stripes. Jordan's journey led him to The Brewery in Townsville, where from 2017 to 2021, he meticulously crafted a range of releases that left beer enthusiasts yearning for more. Now, at Maggie Island Brewery, Jordan eagerly awaits to share the fruits of his labour with you.
